Bandit Coaching Staff
OBA's Bandit Baseball program is staffed by professional paid coaches. These coaches have generally played high levels of competitive baseball and have a strong desire to continue teaching the game to our youth.
Meet the Coaches
Mustang and Bronco (10u - 12u)
Garrett Hill started playing baseball when he was three years old and was a catcher until graduating from Dougherty Valley High School. As he senior he won the Wildcat Award for being the best teammate and most coachable. After graduating, he coached at Dougherty Valley High School and has been coaching with OBA for four years. Garrett enjoys teaching the skills of the game but also focuses on teaching skills that will be useful outside of baseball.
Teddy Hoxie grew up in Orinda and played OBA before playing baseball for four years at Miramonte High School as a pitcher and first baseman. He played on the 2017 MHS team that went 27-1 and made it to the NCS Championship. After high school, Teddy was recruited to pitch at Drew University in New Jersey. Over four seasons as a starter and closer, Teddy posted an impressive ERA, strikeout totals and took a no-hitter into the 7th inning of his junior year. Teddy is excited to be back in Orinda supporting the program that got him started in baseball.

Pony (13u - 14u)
Robert Filipas (aka Coach Flip) grew up in Moraga and played baseball at Campolindo High School before going on to play at Diablo Valley College and Cal State Hayward. In 2003, Flip was the JV Head Coach at Campolindo 2003 and has been leading OBA’s team of professional coaches since 2004. Along with coaching, Flip is a PE teacher at Mt. Diablo High School in Concord. As a teacher and coach for nearly two decades, Flip enjoys helping students and players achieve their highest potential. He lives in Moraga with his wife and three daughters.
Rob Ellis grew up in Moraga and played baseball at Campolindo High School. He played college baseball at Mission College and Clemson University. He pitched for 2+ seasons in the Tampa Bay Rays organization and played 6 years of Independent professional baseball. Rob has served as the pitching coach for both Miramonte High School and Acalanes High School. He has been coaching with OBA for over 10 years.
Jay Almendral grew up in the East Bay and played baseball at Freedom High School before graduating and playing college baseball at Chabot College and Patten University. He also played minor league independent baseball for the Pittsburg Diamonds. Jay coached with San Ramon Baseball Club for seven years and spent two years as the Varsity Assistant Coach at Liberty High School and two years as the Varsity Catching/Hitting Coach at Pittsburg High School. Jay coached professionally with the Pittsburg Diamonds for three years and has been coaching with OBA for two years.
Rob Enriquez grew up in the East Bay and played baseball at Pittsburg High School. He pitched in college at Laney College, Diablo Valley College and York College. Rob also pitched professionally in the minor league independent Golden Baseball League for the Tuscon Toros, Yuma Scorpions, Tijuana Cimeronnes and the Orange County Flyers. As a coach, Rob served as the Pitching Coach at Castro Valley High School, the Pitching Coordinator for the San Ramon Slammers travel ball program and has been providing private pitching lessons for pitchers of all ages for over 10 years.
