Umpires
You're Out! (Or In?)
OBA's Youth Umpire program is a crucial part of our program. Not only is this a fun and rewarding experience, but it also helps participants gain a deeper understanding of the game, builds confidence in making difficult decisions, and cultivates a sense of responsibility and commitment.
To be a youth umpire you must be in at least the 7th grade and attend mandatory training in advance of the Spring Baseball season (often in January/ February). You are not required to have baseball experience but the majority of the umpires have played or still play baseball (generally with OBA or Miramonte).
After training, the umpires can sign up for games based on their availability and umpiring skill level. The newer umpires start with umpiring our Pinto League and the most experienced umpires can sign up to umpire Mustang and Bronco games. Payment is per game and varies by the League level.
