Further, OBA is proud to announce the OBA 2025 Fall Ball Mustang (10U), Bronco (12U) and Pony (14U) Clinics Coaches, and the 2026 Spring Ball Bandits Head Coaches. We have assembled a roster of experienced, competitive, sportsmanship-minded, skills development-oriented, and fun-loving coaches that we believe are some of the absolute best coaches in all the East Bay!

Luke O’Brien played baseball at De La Salle High School before moving on to Ohlone College, UC San Diego, and San Francisco State. Luke’s coaching philosophy centers on developing players while building teams with strong chemistry, high baseball IQ, and a “play for each other” mindset. A lifelong lover of the game, he believes baseball teaches lessons that carry far beyond the field. His goal is to make every player better, both as an athlete and a person. This is Coach O’Brien’s second season with OBA. Coach O’Brien previously served as the infield coach at San Francisco State.

Rob Ellis grew up in Lafayette and played baseball at Campolindo High School, Mission College, and Clemson University. He pitched for two seasons in the Tampa Bay Rays organization and played six years in Independent professional baseball He brings a positive, competitive coaching style, focused on building confidence, discipline, and a love for the game. This is Coach Ellis’s tenth season with OBA. Coach Ellis previously served as the pitching coach at both Miramonte and Acalanes High Schools.

Gerald Nervis, Jr was a 4-year high school varsity starter at San Leandro Hish School. He also earned SWAC All Conference 2 nd Team Honors while playing while playing at Grambling State University. And he earned CCCAA All Conference 1st Team Honors while playing at Chabot College. In addition to being a former Division 1 baseball player, Coach Gerald continues to pursue his dream of playing professionally. Coach Gerald’s mission is to guide our youth on and off the baseball field. It brings him great joy to give back the knowledge he’s learned over the years to Bay Area baseball,
especially OBA! This is Coach Gerald’s 3rd season with OBA.

Born in Antioch, California, Robert Enriquez began his baseball journey at Pittsburg High School, where he was a starting pitcher. He went on to pitch at Diablo Valley College, where he was part of a regional playoff team, before continuing his career at York College in Nebraska. After college, he earned a spring training invite with the Tucson Toros before pitching professionally in the Golden Baseball League for the Yuma Scorpions, Tijuana Cimarrones, and Orange County Flyers. With over 15 years of coaching experience, Coach Enriquez specializes in pitching development for youth athletes, focusing on mechanics, arm care, and mental toughness. His passion is helping the next generation of ball players maximize their potential—on the mound and beyond. This is Coach Enriquez’s fourth season with OBA.

Jay Almendral is a highly experienced baseball coach and former professional player with deep roots in the East Bay. A graduate of Freedom High School, Coach Jay advanced his athletic career at Chabot College and Patten University, where he played collegiate baseball. He later competed in independent minor league baseball with the Pittsburg Diamonds. With over 20 years of coaching experience across multiple levels, Coach Jay has built a reputation for developing athletes through a personalized, skill-focused approach. He spent eight years coaching with the San Ramon Baseball Club, served as Varsity Assistant Coach at Liberty High School for two seasons, and held the role of Varsity Catching and Hitting Coach at Pittsburg High School for another two years. His professional coaching career also includes three seasons with the Pittsburg Diamonds. His impact spans youth leagues to collegiate and professional levels, consistently helping athletes reach their full potential. Now entering his sixth season with OBA, Jay continues to mentor players by building on their natural abilities and fostering growth through tailored instruction.
